What Foundations Are Required For The Outdoor Living Pod?

Ideally a solid concrete base provides the ideal surface for the Outdoor Living Pod (OLP) to sit on and be attached to, however, an average sized Outdoor Living Pod equipped with screens weighs less than 500kg so can be mounted / positioned on all types of ground surfaces including timber decking, patio slabs and block paving.

A popular installation is down to timber decking, where we simply need to add additional load bearing timbers to the decking sub frame (see photo above) to strengthen the base and provide a solid, wide enough flat surface to fix the base plates to usually via M10 hi-tensile coach bolts. Additionally when installing the OLP on a timber decking water can run down the drain pipe in the post uprights, through a tube we insert through the timber and out into the soak away under the decking, providing a neat solution to water drainage from the OLP.
