Sales of our external roller blinds (ERB) continue to grow year on year, helped by the fact that so many refurbishment projects include large quantities of glazing in the guise of sliding/bi-fold doors and skylights, all of which needs effectively shading to ensure the new space is comfortable and does not overheat.
We have been monitoring sales of our external roller blinds over the past several years, in particular the split in sales between our Dominica (wire guided) and Antiguan (side track guided) ranges and in 2013 virtually all sales of external roller blinds with a few exceptions were of our Antiguan system, namely because the fabric is physically held in the side channel thanks to a clever zip-locking mechanism, which therefore renders the blind windproof (upto Beaufort 6) and prevents any light strips shining through the edges (as there is no gap), plus the added advantage of the blind acting as an insect screen.
A decision was therefore taken for the 2014 season that we would not replenish our stocks for the Dominica blind system as it was no longer viable. The last stock (with the exception of some parts held incase of any potential remedial requirements down the line) has now been utilised and the final Dominica screens will be installed last week.
Going forward our external roller blind offering will be solely our Antiguan system with its unique features as detailed above in three variants, the S85, S110 and S135, able to cover glazing upto 6m wide x 6m high.
