Blinds Make Better

The British Blind & Shutter Association (BBSA) is encouraging consumers to think differently about blinds and shutters by promoting its year-round smart shading message: ‘Blinds Make Better’.

Caribbean Blinds is proud to be supporting this national campaign that has been created to highlight how shading products can have a positive impact on both commercial and residential buildings where people live, work and socialise in.

Unfortunately, most people are only aware of the surface-level benefits of external shading products such as blinds, shutters and awnings – the part they play in making windows and other types of glazing look more aesthetically pleasing.

We need to help spread awareness about the ways in which these products can effectively manage a number of environmental factors that have a significant impact on our overall quality of life, as well as our bank balance.

Blinds, shutters and awnings not only add style to your space and provide your home with privacy, but they also retain and deflect heat whilst controlling light levels and glare – all year round.

Our Managing Director, Stuart Dantzic, said: “The UK’s recent warm weather and heatwaves have been an issue for many, with buildings and homes overheating and residents struggling to stay cool. So much so that the government announced its first heat-health alert of the year last week.

For this reason, we are proud to be members of the Blinds Make Better campaign and to be supporting this initiative – we want to be doing all we can to help raise awareness of the benefits of shading products and to help protect people from rising temperatures.

The Blinds Make Better website has lots of information on the cooling benefits of shading, with the latest research that proves the effectiveness of internal and external blinds and shutters to help manage indoor temperatures. Why not get involved and be part of the conversation?”

Andrew Chalk, Director of Operations at the BBSA added: “Shading has been used for centuries to help keep our buildings comfortable. With hotter summers and colder winters, the performance benefits of blinds, shutters and awnings are being discussed more than ever – and the Blinds Make Better campaign helps by providing factual information, unique scientific research and answers to frequently asked questions. The BBSA is pleased to see Caribbean Blinds supporting this important campaign.”
