Operations

Our electric pergola awnings, favoured for their user-friendly operation, are motorised and activated with the simple push of a button, eliminating the need for manual gearbox and crank handle operation.

These awnings feature a sealed tubular motor housed within the roller tube, around which the fabric is neatly wound. A standard 3-core power cable extends from the motor located at the selected side of the cassette casing’s rear and can be connected to a domestic socket using a 3-pin plug or directly wired to a fuse spur.

To ensure seamless operation and safety, a secure rolling code is employed, changing with each use, while built-in thermal overload protection prevents motor damage from prolonged use or accidental activation. Control options include a remote control, wall switch, or smartphone app when connected to a smart hub and home broadband, enabling operation from anywhere globally. The app also offers scheduling for automatic opening or closing at predetermined times daily.

Furthermore, our system can integrate various sensors, notably a wind sensor that retracts the awning in high winds to prevent damage. Sensors communicate with the motor via radio signals, similar to transmitters, with the motor conducting periodic checks every 15 minutes to ensure sensor functionality. In the event of a sensor failure to respond, the motor automatically retracts the awning as a signal for inspection—a smart safety feature.

Streamline All-Weather Pergola Awnings - Made in Britain

A pergola awning is a popular alternative to a retractable folding arm awning. Offering a much higher level of wind resistance thanks to their robust yet streamline framework, they can also cover much greater areas and are subsequently suited to larger terraces and commercial establishments along with exposed environments. However, unlike traditional pergola awnings where the roof is made of fabric, our pergola awnings are a little different and special, using a roof of aluminium louvers.

The awning roof louvers, which sit within the cross beam of the pergola, can either tilt through 150 degrees, allowing you to fully play with light and shade or fully retract for the ultimate open air alfresco experience. When the weather turns inclement, the roof in the closed position, thanks to the interlocking louvers is completely watertight and can withstand high levels of wind – upto gale force 12 (model dependent). An integrated guttering system built within the cross beams, which connects to rain water pipes concealed in selected post uprights provides an effective drainage of water from the roof when closed.

To further enhance the use and functionality of our pergola awnings, the sides can be equipped with windproof screens that along with offering shelter from strong breezes, also provide protection from low level sunlight and privacy from neighbouring buildings. Additionally integrated LED lighting within the roof louvers and/or cross beams coupled with infra-red heaters guarantee a cosy and pleasant environment throughout the year.

Our pergola awnings can be mounted freestanding on the patio or attached as a lean-to structure against the property, all through concealed fixing plates and brackets. It is even possible to integrate our pergola awnings without the posts into building overhangs. Operation of the roof and accessories is via integrated motors and receivers within the framework, functioned from a radio controlled remote control or a convenient smartphone app.
